Island isn't adopting UK leniency on parking fines

There are no plans to follow the UK's lead in changing the parking fine system in the Isle of Man.

Proposals there will see penalties reduced and motorists allowed a five-minute grace period before a fine is handed down.

It comes off the back of criticism from the public that councils are stepping up patrols as a means of increasing their revenues.

In many cases, parking fines are costing drivers more than speeding fines.
