Debt help for people after Christmas

The Office of Fair Trading says it is expecting an increase in people approaching them for help in January.

According to the Money Advice Service, 17m people across the UK are expected to start 2014 in debt.

The OFT says that many get carried away at Christmas and spend too much.

Advice centre manager Andrea Tabb says once Christmas is over, it’s a good time to work out how much you have spent and start saving early.

She says the figures don't surprise her:
