Health and social care staff get pay award

Around 1,500 health and social care staff are set to get a pay award of over £400.

It follows an arbitration process between the government and the Manx Industrial Relations service.

The deal works out at a consolidated rate of 20 pence per hour for 2011/2012 and a one off lump sum of £400 for the following year.

However the Health Minister has now warned that this will cause a potential strain on frontline resources.

David Anderson says that’s because money has to be found from the department’s existing budgets.
