A befriender for Esther Rantzen’s SilverLine says services that have expanded into the larger UK charity won't change here.
This new lifeline service for the elderly was launched UK wide yesterday after being piloted in the Isle of Man.
On the Island the helpline is available for older people 24/7.
Volunteer Wilma says she speaks regularly to a local lady who is lonely due to the isolation of living on her own and not having any family on the Island:
