A record 69 per cent of students on the Island have passed their GCSE exams with the grades A* to C.

The Department of Education and Children has released a provisional breakdown of how students from the Island’s five secondary schools have fared.

Almost 860 students have collected their results today – the overall pass rate, grades A* to G, stands at 99.3 per cent.

19.5 per cent of entries gained A or A* grades – the second highest on record.
