Homeowners are being urged to use their common sense and prevent themselves being victims of crime.
With the summer holiday season approaching many people will be leaving the Island to go on holiday.
Police are asking people to stop opportunistic criminals by making it look as though the property is still occupied.
Crime prevention officer Mike Radcliffe has this advice:
