Schools are open as normal this morning despite the Island bracing itself for the snow.

Education bosses have taken advice from the Met Office, the police and the Department of Infrastructure.

They say despite the pattern of snowfall remaining hard to predict they believe the worst of the weather will hit when the schools have closed.

John Gill from the Department of Education and Children says it's always a difficult decision to make:
