New Chief Fire Officers speaks about financial challenges ahead

The Island’s next Chief Fire Officer was unveiled yesterday by Home Affairs Minister, Juan Watterson.

Kevin Groom will be making the step up from the Deputy role, succeeding Brian Draper who has retired after a 30 year career with the Fire and Rescue Service.

Mr Groom will be overseeing a team of 53 whole time and 110 retained fire-fighters aswell as support staff based at the Island’s seven stations.

He comes into the post at a time of financial difficulties, we asked how this will impact the service moving forward:
