Bribery legislation to be taken to HOK

New legislation aimed at strengthening the Island’s ability to combat bribery will be taken to the House of Keys today.
The Bribery Bill 2012 is being processed by the Department of Home Affairs to replace the Corruption Act from 2008.
Minister Juan Watterson says the new Bill will strengthen a commitment to promoting the Island as an open, transparent and well regulated jurisdiction.
The main difference in the new legislation is that a commercial organisation will be liable for failing to prevent bribery if a person commits a bribery offence anywhere in the world.
The proposed maximum fine for this is £10,000.
