Alf Cannan MHK is proposing a major independent investigation into all aspects of Tynwald members’ pay.
In Tuesday’s sitting of Tynwald the Michael MHK will call for an independent review of the politicians pay, pensions and expenses.
As part of the review Mr Cannan would like members of Tynwald, the public, the chamber of commerce and trade union representatives to be consulted.
He is also proposing the chairman should be a senior figure of standing from off-Island, such as a member of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.
It’s hoped through presenting the public with a definitive set of results a review could put to rest debates about members pay.
