Island film industry shows poor returns

The majority of films made on the Island have not yet recouped anywhere near the investment put into them.

That finding was revealed yesterday in the House of Keys following a question about profit and loss from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft.

Treasury Minister Eddie Teare provided a breakdown of films the government had invested in under the management of CinemaNX.
 
Among others the figures showed that despite £9,550,000 being spent on Me and Orson Welles just over £2 million was recuperated and only £121,467 was made back on Albatross following a spend of £1,925,000.
 
However Mr Teare is defending the results:
