Maternity plans to stay the same

There are no plans to introduce statutory maternity pay on the Isle of Man according to the Social Care Minister.
Chris Robertshaw was quizzed on the topic by Onchan MHK Peter Karran in the House of Keys yesterday.
Mr Robertshaw said his department already provides a social security benefit for women and has no plans to implement legislation to make employers pay out.
However Mr Karran says the Island should be following the lead from the UK which implements this and even looking at making the payment transferrable so that women are encouraged to go back to work:
