Approval sought for Douglas promenade revamp

After years of calls from the public it would seem the Department of Infrastructure is finally in a position to overhaul Douglas promenade.

 

The stretch of road has come in for fierce criticism from motorists due to the damaged surface and bumpy driving conditions.

A planning application has been submitted -if successful Infrastucture Minister David Cretney will seek Tynwald approval for the £17 million for the project. The first part of the work alone is expected to cost £1 million.

 

Plans for the proposed work have been formulated following a major consultation which saw over 450 respondents share their thoughts on the best way forward.
