Car collection of Island horologist sells for £10 million

The car collection of a Master Watchmaker who lived on the Isle of Man has gone under the hammer to the tune of almost £10 million pounds.

Horologist George Daniel’s collection of seven cars and two motorcycles was sold through auction house Bonhams following his death in October last year.

The collection, which was auctioned at the Goodward Festival of Speed at the end of last month, raised £48,000 short of £10 million pounds.

One of the cars up for sale, a rare British Bentley, sold for just over five million – making it the most expensive Bentley to ever be sold at a public auction.

Speaking to ENERGY FM, Chief Executive of the Bonhams Group, Malcolm Barber said the auction was for a very good cause:
