Parish Walk history made as race leaders finish together

Parish Walk history was made, and the record books rewritten, on Saturday as for the first time ever the two race leaders crossed the finish line together.

Vinny Lynch and Richard Gerrard took a joint win as they completed the event in a record time of 14 hours, 42 minutes and 32 seconds.

Coming in third, and also clocking up a new record, was Michael George who finished in 14 hours, 47 minutes and 11 seconds.

Sue Biggart was the first woman home in a time of just over 17 hours.

203 people finished the 85 mile endurance race despite less than favourable conditions.

Speaking at the finish line Richard Gerrard said he was flabbergasted at the result:
