Fishing trawler rescues vessel in trouble

A small boat which got into trouble in the mouth of Douglas Harbour last night was rescued by a nearby fishing trawler.

Douglas Coastguard received a 999 call at 8.40 reporting that the craft was in difficulty in strong, near gale force, easterly winds, a heavy swell and torrential rain.

It launched an in immediate response team and the fishing trawler was able to tow the boat into the basin of Douglas Harbour.

The occupant of the vessel was uninjured.
