Disruption to motorists as sewer pipe is laid

Motorists travelling in and out of Douglas face disruption today as major road works start on the New Castletown Road.

Haven Homes is laying a new sewer connection to the Pulrose Farm site on the approach to Quarterbridge which entails excavating a three metre deep trench across the road.

It means the road will be closed for five days between Cooil Road and Annacur Lane – meaning motorists will have to find another route in and out of town.

Director of Highways Richard Pearson said the complete road closure was a necessity:
