Local golf champ dies after bike crash

A local man who died after a road traffic collision on Tuesday has been named locally as golf champion Davy Jones.

He was killed in a three vehicle collision on the A3 St John’s to Kirk Michael Road at Cronk y Voddy.

The incident involved a bin wagon, Mr Jones’s Suzuki GSXR motorbike and a white Yamaha, and happened just before 7am.

All three vehicles had been travelling towards Kirk Michael.

Police closed the road for eight hours while they carried out enquiries.

The rider of the Yamaha was taken to hospital for treatment.
