There's both good and bad news for the Island's beaches.

The Good Beach Guide has updated its ratings for bathing areas across the British Isles today.

Both Castletown and Derbyhaven receive the recommended status, an improvement on last year when only Derbyhaven met the standard.

However, the number of beaches failing the water test has increased.

5 failed last year, whilst 7 of the 19 tested aren't good enough this year.

Overall the Island was one of the lowest ranked areas of the British Isles, with only Lancashire, North Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway fairing worse.
