Douglas Council is objecting to a planning application which would see a Curry's and PC World store open on the Spring Valley Industrial Estate.

The board says the development would be too big, not have sufficient parking and have a negative affect on other retailers.

A retail impact statement says the store would have an annual turnover of just over £7million.

Electrical retail outlets on the Island turnover around £10million per year, so it's expected the store would have a significant impact on local retailers.

Dixon's Retail Limited wants to establish a store to sell white goods under its Curry's brand, and computers and accessories as PC World from unit one on the estate.
