Wood burner warning following Peel fire

Publication Date: Wed, 04 Apr 2012  16:51

Fire crews are advising those with wood burners to keep log chips away from the burner following a fire in Peel this afternoon.

Officers were called to Marine Parade at 2.00pm.

A dog was rescued from the property but no-one was injured.

The blaze was quickly put out but there was some minor heat and smoke damage.

The fire was caused by a pile of logs being stored close to a wood burner.

Fire safety officers also recommend fitting a carbon monoxide detector to rooms where a wood burner is fitted.
