The new man in charge of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says we need to focus on protecting the environment and growing the Island's food sector.

Richard Lole is to succeed Ken Kinrade as the Chief Executive of the Department from March.

He says developing the food sector will allow it to contribute further to the Island's economy.

Mr Lole spent five years as the Island's Director of Agriculture and has held a number of roles within the agricultural sector.
