Inflation on the Isle of Man is at its lowest level for 16 months.

At the end of 2011, the Retail Prices Index stood at 4.7%, down from 5% in November.

Over the course of last year the biggest price increases were seen on tobacco and cigarettes, and fuel and light, with both going up by more than 10%.

Treasury Minister Eddie Teare has welcomed the fall in RPI for the 4th consecutive month.

He hopes it's a trend that will continue during 2012.
