The retirement age of women on the Island will move in line with that of men sooner that originally planned.

By November 2018, the state pension will have risen to 65 - 17 months earlier than first suggested.

In October 2020, the age for both sexes will go up to 66 - five and a half years early.

It's because of an ageing population and increased life expectancy.

If it wasn't done, it's said there would be an unfair burden on future generations.
