Over half of prisoners in jail for violence or drugs offences

Over half of the Island's prisoners are in jail for violence or drugs offences.

Over 40% of the inmates at the Isle of Man Prison have committed drugs crimes.

Nearly a fifth of those currently serving a sentence in Jurby are there for violent crimes.

As of October 12th there were 108 prisoners on the Island.

The figures were revealed by the Department of Home Affairs in a Tynwald answer following a question from new Onchan MHK Zac Hall
