A guide for judges has been put together by the Island's First Deemster.

The Code of Conduct for Members of the Judiciary of the Isle of Man gives those presiding over a court advice on what's expected of them.

The document focuses on six main areas, including impartiality, independence and integrity.

It follows a recent case where Deemster Birkett was accused of acting like a prosecuting advocate whilst overseeing the trial of a woman charged with kidnapping her own son.

Her conviction has been quashed as a result.

The full document can be found on the Isle of Man Courts of Justice website.
