Livestock checked before leaving Island, says vet

The Government's Chief Vet says all animals exported from the Island for slaughter are vigorously checked before undertaking the journey.

Stuart Jacques says livestock has to be passed fit to travel before leaving the Island.

An online petition is calling for a ban on exporting animals for slaughter from the Island.

Mr Jacques says farmers are doing nothing wrong by sending their livestock to the UK [play clip]
