UK Schools watchdog Ofsted is backing an initiative used in schools on the Island.

Nurture groups help children at risk of exclusion both academically and socially.

There are eleven such groups in the Island's primary schools, and three in secondary schools.

An Ofsted report found nurture groups make children calmer, happier and more confident.

The Island's Department of Education and Children has welcomed the findings.
