Govt wants to create new satellite register

The Isle of Man Government is hoping to build on the success of its aircraft and ship registers with a satellite register.

 

It's an idea the Department of Economic Development is looking into at the moment.

 

Tenders are being invited to investigate how the Island can set up a Space Objects Register.

 

The United Kingdom already has one and it's hoped the Island can piggy-back on the UK legislation.

 

Minister Allan Bell says the registries themselves don't bring in money, but they do bring in a lot of related business. [Play audio file below]
