Crowds turn out to meet new Governor

Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood meets local school children in Castletown Square

The new Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man has been officially sworn in to the post this morning.

 

Adam Wood takes over the role from Sir Paul Haddacks who reached the end of his term of office.

 

The ceremony was held in Castle Rushen.

 

Many people turned out in Castletown Square to greet Mr Wood, who arrived with his wife and daughter.

 

Local school children were allowed out of class for the morning and waved flags as the Governor's car arrived.

 

These youngsters were excited, if not a bit confused about who the Governor was.[Play audio file below]

 

After Mr Wood had spoken to members of the public, the ceremonial procession made its way to the castle where the new Governor took his oath.[Play audio file below]
