£2million is to be spent on the first phase of redeveloping Douglas town centre.

Douglas Council has committed to provide the funds for the programme, which is due to begin in February next year.

Works will include repaving, replacing street lighting and new street furniture.

Before then, regeneration works will take place to improve Nelson Street.
