A fisherman from Northern Ireland has been fined £1800 for fishing undersize scallops.

Stanley Hanna from Kilkeel pleaded guilty when he appeared before the Deputy High Bailiff at Douglas Courthouse.

The offence took place in Manx waters, just off Chicken Rock Lighthouse, earlier this month.

Authorities have seized Hanna's vessel until the fine has been paid.

He must also pay £115 in costs.

The undersize scallops were returned to the sea.
