MHK contacted by concerned taxi driver

A Taxi driver has been raising concerns over an all Island taxi licence with a Manx politician.
South Douglas MHK and Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney was asked a series of questions by the taxi driver.
The driver is concerned they will lose their £30,000 investment in their licence plate, and will have to work more hours.
Department of Infrastructure Officers have answered the questions, stating that 80%t of those who responded to a consultation on the plans supported the idea.
Currently taxi drivers can only pick up fares in their registered district unless pre-booked, and they must return to their district empty.
An all Island licence would mean they could operate across the Island.
The proposals go before Tynwald next week.
