Split drink drive limit plans scrapped

The Government's changed it's mind about lowering the drive-drive limit for R-plate drivers.

New laws were being looked at that would have meant the blood/alcohol level limit for new road users would have been 46mg.

The limit for more experienced drivers would have stayed at 80.

However, the plans have now been dropped by the Department of Infrastructure.

It's believed feedback from a public consultation led to the decision.
