Drink-drive change sends mixed message says MHK

An MHK believes the government is sending out mixed messages with its plans to lower the drink drive limit for R-plate drivers.

The blood/alcohol limit for new drivers and those with provisional licences would be 50mg.

The limit for everyone else would stay at 80mg.

A consultation on the new laws closes at the end of today.

Rushen politician Quintin Gill believes a two-tier system would undermine the message that you shouldn't drink anything if you're driving.

Mr Gill is to ask questions in Tynwald this month.
