Infrastructure minister Phil Gawne has revealed we could see the first Island-wide Taxi Licence by this summer.

The results from a recent consultation on taxi licences have been reviewed and 78% of those who took part were in favour making the change.

The final report is now being compiled and will be put before Tynwald for approval in the spring.

However the Manx Government is being accused of being 'hell bent' on destroying the local taxi industry.

The accusation comes from the Isle of Man taxi Federation after the proposals were announced.

There are concerns from drivers that the industry won't cope if this were to change.

Energy FM news spoke to the chairman of the federation earlier today.
