Ban warning for game and waterfowl shooters

Publication Date: Fri, 24 Dec 2010  13:55

Shooters of game and waterfowl are being asked exercise restraint in shooting certain species in the current weather conditions.

Ducks, woodcock and snipe are having difficulties due to the severe weather.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is asking shooters to bear in mind the British Association for Shooting and Conservation Codes and Practice.

It's believed the species have been struggling to find food.

This request is for voluntary restraint, but the Department hasn't ruled out bringing in a ban
