It was a busy afternoon for the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service yesterday.

Crews were involved in 21 calls for assistance over a six hour period.

As well as rescuing stranded people and clearing vehicles, the officers were also required to help transfer a blood shipment from the Airport to Noble's Hospital.

Other incidents included escorting a gritter out of a traffic jam, and cutting a trapped passenger from a car.

The majority of crews were stood down at around 6.00pm
