Police in the south of the Island are investigating the theft of a large quantity of heating oil.

The domestic fuel was taken from a rear garden in the Janet's Corner Estate between the end of October and the start of this month.

Officers believe a large vehicle will have been needed for the theft.

Such thefts are quite common on the Island, and become more frequent in the winter months.

Police advise that you monitor your oil levels closely, and ensure theft from gardens and surrounding areas is covered in your household insurance.
