Island appeals to EU over red meat derogation

The Island is asking for more time to phase out the red meat derogation.
Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister John Shimmin says his Department has asked the EU for an extension to the derogation, which is set to expire at the end of this year.
However, such a move would contradict EU legislation.
A decision is expected soon.
