Householders are being warned that collection bags for charities might be from rogue traders.
The Island's Office of Fair Trading has had a number of complaints about unlicensed traders distributing bags to collect clothes for charity.
However, the OFT says some of these traders may not actually be collecting on behalf of charities.
The licence is free to obtain from the police.
If you doubt a collector is genuine you can ask to see their licence.
