Mother given 9 months for abducting child

A mother who was convicted of abducting her own son and taking him to Canada has been sentenced to 9 months in Prison.
The woman who can only be identified as Miss A appeared at Douglas courthouse this morning after a jury found her guilty.
Deemster Birkett told Douglas Courthouse that it was a "highly unusual case" with "difficult family circumstances" stretching back a number of years.
Miss A has denied the charges throughout the trial and claimed she took the boy through necessity to prevent him coming to harm.
The boy is currently in foster care.
