MHK for south Douglas David Cretney is proposing a change to the road traffic act to help cats.

Currently if a motorist hits a dog, horse or larger animal it mist be reported to Police, however cats are not currently covered.

The change will mean a one word amendment to the current bill.

The call comes after a cat lay in pain for a number of hours before it was found by a member of the public.

Mr Cretney had this to say.
