MHK calls for election spending limit

One of the House of Keys' longest serving members is calling for a spending limit to be brought in for election campaigns.
David Cretney believes the current rules mean the best candidates don't always win the vote.
Mr Cretney is the Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, and has represented the constituency of Douglas South since 1985.
In May this year, celebrity chef Kevin Woodford caused controversy in the Douglas East by-election by standing funded by an anonymous group.
Mr Cretney had earlier nominated Mr Woodford for the Legislative Council.
