Plans to build an EMI unit and day care centre in Ramsey are to be brought forward by 9 months.

The 16 bed unit is designed to house elderly or infirm patients and will cost in the region of £3.4million.

The funds were budgeted for another project which cannot go ahead until next year.

Social Care Minister Martyn Quayle says this is a great way of using the funds that would have sat doing nothing for nearly a year, and is also a great way of supporting the Island's construction industry
