The Isle of Man Government says stricter rules on work permits have helped bring down unemployment on the Island.

Last year, it was decided that newcomers to the Island would be refused work permits in low skilled sectors.

Nearly 600 fewer permits were issued in the twelve months to March this year than the previous year.

The Department of Economic Development says it is continuing to monitor the job sector, and will react if the employment situation deteriorates.
