Manx boxer maintains unbeaten record

Manx professional boxer Mathew ‘Magic’ Rennie maintained his unbeaten record, after overcoming Backburn’s Naheem Chaudhry at the weekend.

Mathew’s fourth appearance for VIP promotions took place at the Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool, where he won on points, with the fight culminating in a 40 – 36 win in Mathew’s favour, after four solid rounds.

Mathew commented: “As soon as the first bell went, I felt relaxed and sharp – I got into my rhythm quickly. I followed my coaches, Tommy Smith and Paul Edwards, instructions and found everything we have worked on over the last 12-months paid off.”

“I dominated from the first second to the last and got the crowd behind me with a smatter of show-boating. I can’t thank everyone who came out to support me enough, travelling from the Isle of Man, Scotland and Jersey; it makes all the difference in the ring knowing you’re surrounded by friends, family and fans.”

“With this latest win under my belt, my professional career is really taking off. I can’t wait to tally up the wins and push on, with training for my next four-rounded in Hull planned for October.”

Mathew’s next fight will be in Hull at the Bonus Arena on 26th October, where he’ll be looking to build on his past experiences in the ring ahead of his 2020/2021 schedule, where he hopes to increase his rounds and aim for some prestigious title shots.
