TT Course Inspector steps down following speeding accusations

The Department for Enterprise has released a statement regarding the TT Course inspection Officer standing down from his position.

It follows a story released in the Isle of Man Examiner yesterday featuring Shaun Counsell on the front page, in which he claims he was wrongly accused of speeding during last year’s TT races.

Mr Counsell walked away from his role as Course Inspector after 14 years.

In a statement, the Department said: ‘It is important to note that the original concern came from an official at the event on behalf of the Organiser, with the tracking system upon interrogation subsequently indicating there may have been excess speed in a number of areas.

‘The requirement for speed limits on non-competing vehicles, and the decision taken by Mr Thompson to raise the issue with the Course Inspection Officer and any further comment or action is between the Organiser and the Officer concerned.’
