Council's town centre car parks 'open for business' as promenade works continue

Douglas Borough Council are reminding motorists that the town centre car parks for which it is responsible are ‘open for business’ as usual during the prom redevelopment.

Shaw’s Brow and the Bottleneck car parks are owned and operated by the Council; it also manages and operates Chester Street and Drumgold Street car parks under licence to the Department of Infrastructure.

Environmental Services Committee Chair Councillor Ritchie McNicholl said: ‘The Council recognises that parking provision on Douglas promenade is compromised while the redevelopment works are under way. In light of this and as a reflection of the Council’s continued commitment to partner with government and to support those affected by the disruption, we thought it opportune to issue a reminder that our four car parks provide a total of 1200 spaces in the town centre and are very much “open for business” year round.’
