Lifeboats launched after fishing boat fire

Ramsey and Douglas were launched to aid a fishing vessel on fire yesterday morning.

Crews were launched at 7:20am, following a request by HM Coastguard Belfast.

The 16 metre vessel was located 2.5 miles east of Maughold Head. The crew of two aboard the fishing vessel had managed to isolate and extinguish the fire in the engine room.

Nether crew member was injured in the incident, but the vessel had suffered a complete loss of power.

The boat was towed back to Douglas Harbour.
